The Boschendal 1685 Chardonnay captivates with its vibrant and spicy bouquet of lemon, cinnamon, and nutmeg, igniting anticipation for that first sip. The palate is enveloped in creamy richness, showcasing remarkable complexity, refined smoothness, and delightful nuances of zesty citrus and ripe stone fruits.
The Chardonnay grapes underwent fermentation with selected yeast cultures in stainless steel tanks. Before fermentation was complete, 70% of the juice was transferred into French oak barrels. The wine matured for an additional ten months on fine lees in barrels (12% new oak, 88% second-, third-, and fourth-fill barrels), with regular batonnage to enhance mouthfeel.
