Information about "Bosman Twyfeling Cinsaut 2024"

In the glass, the Bosman Twyfeling Cinsaut showcases a deep plum hue with a violet rim, exuding an enchanting bouquet of fresh berries, cassis, and cherries, complemented by subtle notes of fragrant tobacco, fine spices, and savory aromas. On the palate, it is concentrated and lush, yet maintains a medium body, presenting itself as a remarkably bold wine with an elegant structure and a soft finish. This vineyard is planted on the historic Twyfeling farm, which means 'to hesitate' (reflecting its rugged terrain on the slopes of the Groenberg in Bovlei near Wellington). The ancient tools depicted on the label were unearthed in the cellar, honoring the men and women who toiled in the soil, planting vines and uncovering the hidden potential of this once remote and beautiful vineyard.

Treatment in the cellar

The hand-harvested grapes were destemmed upon arrival at the cellar, gently crushed, and allowed to undergo spontaneous fermentation. In this context, 'spontaneous' means that fermentation was initiated by the naturally occurring yeasts on the fruit and in the environment, rather than by adding commercial yeast. During the fermentation process, the cap was regularly submerged to maximize color and flavor extraction. After fermentation, the wine spent an extended period on the skins before aging for 12 months in French oak barrels (10% new wood).
