In a glass, the De Krans Garden Route Shiraz 2022 captivates with its deep plum color, offering an enticing bouquet filled with dark berries and ripe plums, complemented by subtle hints of cherry tobacco and finely ground white pepper. On the palate, it reveals layers of fresh plum and intriguing spices, with an underlying complexity of mulberry and cherry. Its smooth, well-structured tannins and harmoniously integrated acidity create a delightful balance, culminating in a polished and rounded wine.
The handpicked grapes were destemmed, crushed, and placed into open fermenters upon arrival, resting overnight before yeast was added to start fermentation. During fermentation, the juice was regularly pumped over to maximize extraction of color, aromas, and flavor nuances. After fermentation, the wine was pressed off the skins and moved to oak barrels for malolactic fermentation. It matured for 12 months in a mix of third- and fourth-fill French oak barrels before selecting the finest barrels for blending and bottling.
