Vineyard Groote Post Vineyards
Groote Post is a historic 18th century farm on the west coast of the Cape, where the old tradition of winemaking has been revived by the Pentz family. In the third and fourth generation, Peter and Nick Pentz, who originally came from the dairy industry, hoped that just as their cream always floated on top, their wines would also float on top.
After their maiden vintage in 1999, we can now say that they have undoubtedly reached the top. The winery's wines regularly receive top ratings in South Africa's renowned Platter's Wine Guide and numerous awards from the most prestigious institutions. The final transition from dairy farming to viticulture took place in 2001 with the sale of the highly esteemed Holsteiner herd. According to Peter Pentz, this was not a difficult decision, since, in the entire 50 years in the dairy industry, not once did anyone say to him: "Peter, last night I had an excellent bottle of your milk!
