Wine growing regions of Italy
Each Italian region has its own wine style
The wine industry in Italy is characterized by large private wineries such as "Frescobaldi", "Antinori" or "Zonin 1821". Smaller wineries can be found in regions such as Piedmont, Veneto, Tuscany and Lombardy, but also on the Italian island of Sicily. Each region in Italy has its own style of wine. In the end, Italy produces a good two billion bottles of the best Italian wine every year. Many of them are exported. So many bottles of the noble drops are even that Italy is one of the largest wine exporters in the world. Popular wines such as Chianti, Brunello or Barolo contribute to this. In terms of the quantity of wines produced, Italy is right behind France, which is the first in the list of wine producers.

Italian wine is part of Italian culture
Wine has been produced in Italy since the 8th century BC. It has therefore been an integral part of Italian culture for many centuries. No other European country has produced wine for longer. This makes Italy Europe's oldest wine-growing region. Today, it is also one of the most important wine-producing countries in the world.
The steady upward trend of Italian wine
Nothing has been able to halt the steady upward trend of Italian wine over the centuries. In the 18th century, for example, Italians preferred to drink wine from French winemakers. It was not until the 19th century that Italian winemakers rediscovered their own strengths in viticulture and began to cultivate or replant vineyards, initially mainly in Piedmont, Veneto and Tuscany. Over the course of many years, the new enthusiasm for Italian wine spread to other Italian wine-growing regions. Today, Italy is divided into twenty wine regions and has over a hundred wineries growing wine on a total of around 168,000 hectares.
