Online Tasting - A virtual journey through the South African wine world
Enjoy the best wines from the Cape in a relaxed atmosphere in your own home with lots of details and anecdotes - that's the promise of the live online tastings at suedafrika-weinversand. Under the motto"Let's Taste Together", we meet virtually with other wine lovers and enjoy together!
Our live online wine tastings are all moderated by sommelier and wine teacher Stefan Metzner, who runs his own wine school in Munich. In many cases, the winemakers or winemakers of the Cape producers are also present.
Because Stefan translates everything, you won't miss a thing, even if you're not quite fluent in English. There is also room for any questions you may have had about wine in general and the respective producers in particular.
In addition to the wines, you will always receive detailed wine analyses prepared by Stefan Metzner in time for the tasting. To ensure that the wines reach you on time, you should order up to 4 working days before the tasting.
The online tastings are great for yourself, but also make a lovely gift for family, friends or colleagues who appreciate a good glass of wine.
On request, we are also happy to organise online tastings individually for you on the topic or company of your choice from our portfolio. Get in touch with us!
How it works Instructions
Alexander Vineyards
Let's taste together
We are delighted to invite you to a very special online tasting – together with Hannes Meyer, who played a decisive role in shaping the profile of Cape Point Vineyards for many years and is now behind The Alexander Vineyards, just a stone's throw away.
The Alexander Vineyards is located in an extraordinary spot on the Cape, characterised by the cool influence of the Atlantic Ocean, striking altitudes and a clear, purist philosophy: here, wines are created that are not loud, but precise, independent and deeply rooted in the terroir. Minimal intervention in the cellar, careful hand-picking and a lot of patience are central components of his work.
In this tasting, we will open selected wines together and talk to Hannes about his personal journey, the differences between Cape Point and Alexander Vineyards, challenges, visions – and, of course, the style, origin and character of his wines.
You can expect an evening for people who not only want to drink, but also want to understand:
🍷 Wines with provenance and attitude
🍷 Insights into craftsmanship, terroir and decisions in the cellar
🍷 Direct exchange with the winemaker
🍷 And of course: plenty of room for your questions
We are very much looking forward to spending this evening with you and immersing ourselves in this special signature style.

Perdeberg Wines
Let's taste together
In this edition of our popular "Let's taste together" tasting series, we invite you to join us in discovering the exciting wines of Perdeberg - one of South Africa's most versatile wine estates. At the foot of the Paardeberg, north of Cape Town, Perdeberg produces wines that epitomise character, craftsmanship and a spirit of innovation. The winery is particularly well known for its work with Dry Land Vineyards - vineyards that manage without artificial irrigation and thus produce particularly expressive grapes.
Albertus Louw, Perdeberg's passionate cellar master, will accompany us through the evening. With his keen sense of terroir and grapes, he stands for wines that make their origin tangible: powerful, clear and always with character. The tasting package offers an exciting cross-section of the range - from the sparkling Bubbly to fresh, lively white wines through to the sweet finish. An invitation to discover the diversity of Perdeberg and experience what this farm can really do. As always, we will taste together in a relaxed atmosphere, listen to stories from the cellar and the vineyards and take a look behind the scenes of a winery that is much more than just a producer - it is a piece of living wine culture in the Cape.
An evening full of enjoyment, exchange and genuine South African joie de vivre. Register now, secure your package - and join us on a journey of discovery.

We kicked off our new tasting season with a real highlight: together we opened the doors to one of South Africa's most impressive wine estates - Babylonstoren. Babylonstoren is much more than just a winery: it is a place where nature, craftsmanship, aesthetics and enjoyment come together in a unique way. De Krans is one of the leading producers of Port style wines and award-winning table wines. Boets, the humble and friendly owner, invited us on an adventurous wine journey.
There are two possibilities. Either you have never heard of Bartinney and have never tasted anything, or you have tasted it and have been buying regularly ever since. It was an event for all Ataraxia, Chardonnay and Hemel en Aarde fans.
We experienced a very special hour with one of the most extraordinary women we know. With just two helpers, Mary-Lou Nash produces only top-class wines on her farm. From planting the vines to loading them with a forklift truck, there is nothing that the winemaker from Black Pearl doesn't do herself. She also sits on a number of tasting panels as a judge and trained as a beer sommelier. Some people simply have more energy than others.......
The number of opportunities to meet one of the world's 418 Masters of Wine in person is limited, and this tasting with the slightly eccentric British MW Richard Kershaw was one of them. Known as a perfectionist, the Cape winemaker knows how wine should taste and therefore makes no compromises himself. The conversation between him and Stefan Metzner, who has been collecting Richard's wines for years, was certainly one of the highlights of the tasting year.
The enchanting Bosman Family Vineyards is located near Wellington. Now in its eighth wine-loving generation, this farm is run by the Bosman family and is a true model company in many respects.

We were accompanied through the evening by Thomas Webb.
Chardonnay is probably the most international of all white grape varieties and is also widely cultivated in the Cape. If some professionals are to be believed, the best Chardonnays in South Africa come from the cool climate region beyond Sir Lowry's Pass. Our sommelier Stefan Metzner told the participants how the wines we selected fared among the international Chardonnays.
