Quinta do Cardo - Premium Weingut in Beiras, Portugal

Quinta do Cardo is located in the middle of the Iberian Plateau, at an altitude of 600 to 700 metres, near Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, very close to the Spanish border.

Due to its geographical position relative to the sea and the central and north-eastern mountainous terrain, the climate is continental Mediterranean. It benefits from aggressive winters, due to the proximity of the Serra da Estrela, which is responsible for cold winters and hot, dry summers. The daily thermal amplitude can vary up to 30 ºC.
The rainy season is very limited, with rainfall of around 500 litres per square metre.
The natural conditions in this vineyard allow for organic farming and viticulture methods. For the last three years the vineyard has been treated exclusively with environmentally friendly products. The procedures are strictly controlled by the certification entity. With the 2014 vintage, the company plans to release the first organic wines from Quinta do Cardo.
