Lebenslinien-e.V. - our non-profit organisation
We have been enthusiastic importers of South African wines since 2002 and are often asked what it is about this country that fascinates us so much? Apart from the outstanding quality of the wines, it has always been the people, the exciting encounters and the dialogue with them that have captivated us. And, of course, it is always the children who take our hearts by storm. Over the years, the desire to stand up for the country's youngest, the underprivileged, the "no haves", has grown ever stronger. Their plight is never hidden, it is omnipresent. That is why we founded the non-profit organisation Lebenslinien e.V. together with friends in 2005. The aim of Lebenslinien e.V. is to improve the nutritional situation of children and, above all, to realise projects in the field of early childhood education for the 5-8 age group. You can find more information about the organisation and its projects at www.lebenslinien-ev.de - or give us a call. Thank you for your interest.
We are delighted to be able to present our latest project, Eagles Nest. Watch the video here: Finding Eagles Nest
Magic Muffin Bakery - Our bakery
Adequate nutrition is a basic human right and is essential in order to fully utilise a person's physical and mental abilities. The Magic Muffin is baked in the Lebenslinien Bakery in Strand (near Somerset West). We have found a school there, Dr Joubert Primary School, which provides us with a room for baking and a storage room. Part of the bakery equipment was funded by the Bavarian state government, the rest was provided by Lebenslinien. 11 different schools and kindergartens in the area are currently supplied from the bakery, and the aim is to include many more children in the programme, fully utilise the bakery and make it profitable.

Heart and Soul - A wine for Africa
As wine merchants and importers of South African wines, and above all as lovers of the country and its people, we thought long and hard about how we could combine our profession with helping African children. After much discussion and reflection, we came up with the idea of creating our own wine brand.
Heart & Soul
Together with the South African winemakers Rikus Neethling from Bizoe Wines and Boets Nel from De Krans, the idea was realised. Everyone is behind it with heart and soul and it is a win-win project for everyone involved. The winegrowers bottle good wine at a very good price, we sell the wine and 50 cents from the proceeds of each bottle go back to "our" children, who are provided with a Magic Muffin every day. And let's not forget the consumer and wine lover, who gets a wonderful wine and does something good while drinking it! With the 50 cents you can support a child with a muffin for about a week. THANK YOU!
Fairtrade
There are also a number of companies in South Africa that treat their employees fairly as a matter of course. Fair pay, own projects, more say, reasonable working and living conditions are not just lip service. Maintaining kindergartens or retirement homes, as is the case with Bosman or Van Loveren, is a matter of course for these family businesses. Here you can find our fairtrade wines.
Sustainability
South Africa has had an award for sustainable wine production for a long time (since 2010). For winemakers who take Integrity & Sustainability seriously (as the little banderole on the neck of the bottle says), i.e. integrity and sustainability, the wine can be traced back from the vine to the bottle and is naturally produced with sustainability in mind. Compliance with the strict criteria is monitored by the Wine and Spirit Board. The South African wine industry is at the forefront of the conservation of resources and the protection of biodiversity on a global scale. With the "Cape Flora Kingdom", South Africa is home to the world's most species-rich flora. Many South African winegrowers are endeavouring to preserve this natural heritage, which is worthy of protection. Sustainable action plans for renaturalisation have been developed and implemented across the country.
