Conceived as a tribute to the abundance and richness of the ocean, Springfield Miss Lucy exudes intense citrus aromas, particularly vibrant grapefruit, delighting the palate with a remarkably lush mouthfeel—all while remaining bone dry! This is a splendid summer wine, best enjoyed in the company of a salty sea breeze and sunshine.
'Miss Lucy' is one of seven nicknames the fishermen of the Southern Cape in South Africa use for the fish known as 'Red Stumpnose.' Sadly, like many seafood species, 'Miss Lucy' is overfished and threatened with extinction.
The grapes for this summer-light blend were harvested at night. The alcoholic fermentation took place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks over 21 days, followed by 100 days on the lees. This blend consists of 30% Sauvignon Blanc, 26% Semillon, 26% Pinot Gris, and 18% Sauvignon Gris.
