Proudly owned by the Bellingham Turner family, Sumardige is elegantly and gracefully situated between two mountain ranges, where each grape variety is given its own and perfectly tailored growing location. Besides the red varieties Pinot Noir, Merlot, Shiraz and Pinotage, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier and Semillon also thrive here. The highly endowed portfolio of oenologist and winemaker Gavin Patterson comprises first-class top wines, which are regularly awarded with prestigious prizes, honours and medals. In 2015, for example, the Sumaridge Chardonnay received an impressive 4.5 stars in the John Platter Wine Guide.

The perfect blend of this unique location, the maritime climate and the special soil conditions, coupled with a great deal of experience and expertise, produces distinctive wines that bring an extraordinary elegance, richness and complexity. The cool breezes of the Atlantic Ocean add a special magic to the Sumaridge grapes.

Oenologist and winemaker Gavin Patterson joined the team at Sumaridge in 2005 and knows no compromise when it comes to maintaining a balance with Mother Nature. This philosophy is reflected in every drop of his wines, which have a unique heritage and reflect the natural beauty of the Sumaridge terroir.
