Van Loveren - Winery in the Breede River Valley, South Africa
Winery from South Africa - Breede River Valley
Vineyard Van Loveren
The Van Loveren Winery is located in the Breede River Valley, 189 km from Cape Town, between Robertson and Bonnieviale. Scarlet flower canes along the roadside clearly mark the estate, which has been owned by the Retief family for three generations.
Hennie Retief (Senior) purchased the original farm in 1937 and renamed it after Christina van Loveren, an ancestor of Jean Retief, who arrived in Cape Town in 1699. Winemaker Bussel Retief has built an international reputation for his award-winning wines and together with his two cousins and his brother forms an unbeatable team of viticulturists, oenologists and farm managers. (Together they are also known as the "Four Cousins", after whom one of Van Loveren's six wine lines is named.
Among Van Loveren's six different wine ranges- Van Loveren, Christina van Loveren, Papillon, Tangled Tree, Five's Reserve and Four Cousins, wine lovers are offered a wide range of wines, from wines for everyday enjoyment to award-winning and handmade Reserve wines. This selection has an enviable reputation for quality, consistency, availability and accessibility. Many of these wines regularly feature in the top selections of various wine clubs, and are winners of both national and international competitions.
