Vulpes Charma Chenin Blanc, named after the Vulpes chama, or Cape fox, thrives in the sunlit vineyards of Swartland, a region where the diverse landscape nurtures this noble varietal. This elegant wine reveals a bouquet of ripe peach, fragrant citrus, and subtle earthiness, complemented by a hint of spice. On the palate, it offers a luscious, broad mouthfeel, marked by earthy minerality and intricate layers of oatmeal, citrus, and saffron. The grapes are sourced from two distinguished Paardeberg vineyards, planted in 1986 and 1996. Crafted by winemaker Nuschka de Vos, whose surname means 'the fox' in Dutch, this wine embodies a true Chenin Blanc triumph!
The grapes are harvested from two distinct Paardeberg sites, picked ten days apart, whole-bunch pressed, and coarsely settled overnight. Fermentation occurs naturally in 228-liter French oak barrels. After a brief maceration, the wine is racked off the gross lees, dosed with SO2, and matured on fine lees for a refined finish.
