The AA Badenhorst Family Wines Kalmoesfontein Red Blend is an expertly crafted blend from the rich terroir of South Africa's Swartland region. Upon pouring, the nose delights with complex aromas of black pepper, aromatic liquorice, fragrant perfumes, and dark cherries. On the palate, this red wine showcases remarkable depth and complexity, revealing heavenly nuances of aromatic lavender and ripe blackberries. The finish is dry, characterized by well-integrated tannins and a spicy, currant-driven finale.
The grapes for the Adi Badenhorst Family Red were meticulously sorted in the vineyard and transported in small harvest baskets to the winery, where they were promptly cooled overnight in refrigerated containers. The next morning, the whole berries were placed in fermentation tanks, where they were gently crushed. The fermentation process lasted six months on the skins, followed by pressing. After fermentation, the wine aged for 16 months in previously used 4000L oak barrels before blending and bottling.
