The AA Badenhorst Kalmoesfontein White Blend 2022 is a remarkable white wine cuvée hailing from South Africa’s Swartland region, showcasing an exquisite blend of eight grape varieties with Grenache Blanc and Chenin Blanc taking center stage. The nose exudes vibrant aromas of ripe stone fruits, intriguing spices, beeswax, and fragrant citrus blossoms. This aromatic ensemble seamlessly transitions to a lush, full-bodied palate where notes of mature stone fruit, oranges, and subtle mineral undertones harmonize with a well-balanced acidity. The finish is fruit-forward, opulently delicious, and satisfyingly lengthy, leaving a lasting impression of finesse and complexity.
The carefully chilled grapes were whole-cluster pressed, and the juice was placed into older, previously used barrels. Some varieties were blended at this stage, while others fermented separately. After fermentation, the wines matured for 15 months in older 1200 L and 3000 L foudres. Upon maturation completion, all wines were blended and aged for an additional six to eight months in concrete tanks on the lees before bottling.
