The AA Badenhorst Kalmoesfontein White Blend 2023 is an intricate and vibrant white wine blend from South Africa's Swartland region, a symphonic expression of eight grape varieties, showcasing Grenache Blanc and Chenin Blanc as its leading performers. It opens with an aromatic bouquet of ripe stone fruits, exotic spices, beeswax, and fragrant citrus blossoms, seamlessly transitioning to a sumptuous palate filled with flavors of lush stone fruit, oranges, and mineral undertones, perfectly balanced by lively acidity. The finish is decadently fruity and irresistibly pleasing.
The cooled grapes were pressed whole-bunch, and the juice was transferred into older, previously used barrels. Some varieties were blended here, while others fermented separately. After fermentation, the wines aged for 15 months in older 1200L and 3000L foudres. Following maturation, all wines were blended and continued aging in concrete tanks on the lees for another six to eight months before bottling.
