The Alinea Viura captivates with its intricate texture and remarkable complexity. Initially, it reveals dusty, flint-like aromas that gradually unfold to showcase notes of citrus blossoms and elderflower. On the palate, vibrant flavors of citrus fruits and winter melon emerge, culminating in a long, mineral finish that elegantly completes the tasting experience.
The vineyards are located in Paarl, where the vines are deeply rooted in weathered granite soils. Grapes were harvested in the last week of February. Whole bunches were gently pressed, with juice left to settle overnight before being transferred to fermentation and aging in barrels. Spontaneous fermentation occurred in old 600-liter French oak barrels, with the wine remaining on fine lees for ten months before bottling.
