The Avondale Jonty’s Ducks Pekin Red captivates the nose with enchanting aromas of blackcurrant, spiced licorice, and a whisper of dark chocolate intertwined with fresh ground coffee notes. The grapes were handpicked, fully destemmed, and crushed before spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks using only the naturally occurring yeast. Fermentation temperatures peaked at 30°C. After fermentation, the wine aged in small French oak barrels, completing malolactic fermentation, and matured for 12-14 months in 225L barrels of second, third, and fourth-fill oak.
