The Babylonstoren Babel Red is an exquisite blend of varied Bordeaux varietals, showcasing the unique terroir of its origin. Pouring a deep, garnet hue into the glass, it unveils a bouquet of sweet tobacco, aromatic pencil shavings, luscious dark plums, mulberries, and cherries. On the palate, it enchants with delightful flavors of ripe red berries and delicate notes of fine chocolate. The finish is long, pleasantly spicy, and silky, making it an impressive companion to hearty dishes.
The grapes were handpicked and fermented on skins for seven days, followed by an extended maceration phase of one week. The must was pressed into 30% new wood and 70% second- and third-fill barrels, where malolactic fermentation was completed. The distinct varietals aged separately for 12 months in first- and second-fill French barriques before blending.
