Where Wine Brings Joy and Heartfelt Labor Creates Futures

Today, we want to share what has particularly moved us at the Cape this year.

Twice a year, we provide you with insights into our heartfelt project, Lebenslinien e.V., through this newsletter.

Many of our donors have come to know us this way – and those who experience the projects on site immediately understand: This is not about "window dressing".

Those who see the Lebenslinien projects with their own eyes recognize a genuine labor of love—driven by commitment, closeness, and responsibility.

2025 was challenging. The wine market is shrinking, structures are changing, and the work does not lessen.

Yet in Grabouw, something arose that gives us hope every day: Our projects continue to grow.

Especially the nearly completed Eagle's Nest Resource Center will provide security, support, and perspective for up to 300 children daily.

If you are at the Cape, we would love for you to visit us.

In 2025, we welcomed more guests than ever before—18 visitors from Germany were present for the farewell of our preschool children.

These were moving moments filled with pride and gratitude.

The Almost 11 – Values for Life

Themba trains over 160 children daily – voluntarily alongside his work at the hospital. He imparts discipline, respect, teamwork, and self-confidence.

Our wish: a real artificial turf field instead of a dusty area—usable for over 1,200 school children without their own sports facilities.

Magic Muffin Bakery – 10,000 Muffins per Week

Vivian and Michelle bake 10,000 muffins a week, enriched with vitamins and Moringa. For around 2,000 children, this muffin is often the only sweet moment of the day.

Keke and Her Four Girls – A New Future

18 months ago, we met four girls—without school, without structure, without perspective. Within days, support was found. A private school accepted all four.

Today, they work hard, laugh again, and believe in themselves. The eldest will complete her American High School Diploma and has already been accepted at Stellenbosch University.

This story fills us with deep gratitude.

The Eagle's Nest – The Heart of 300 Children

2025 was a turning point for the Eagle's Nest. Daily, over 90 preschool children are cared for, supported, and nurtured. Starting in January, up to 200 school children will receive assistance in learning, sports, music, arts, and IT.

The offerings are complemented by a soup kitchen, seniors club, vegetable garden, and a volunteering program. It is a place of safety, dignity, and growth.

A special thanks goes to the Bavarian State Chancellery, which provided €200,000 for new classrooms as part of the partnership between Bavaria and the Western Cape.

We also thank all supporters, patrons, and visitors. Without you, none of this would be possible.

Many ask, "How can I help?" Whether through donations, sponsorships, visits, or recommendations—every contribution makes an impact.

Thank you for your interest in South Africa, its people, and its wines. The next time you are at the Cape: Our door at the Eagle's Nest is open. A short email is all it takes to arrange a meeting.
