The Boschendal Nicolas 2023 is a remarkable blend that showcases the exceptional character of its grape varieties. At the heart of this carefully crafted cuvée lies Shiraz, a cornerstone of Boschendal, imparting allure and depth with exquisite notes of fine spices. Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot contribute to a classic structure and elegance, while Malbec offers a stunning deep hue and intense aromas of red fruits. Merlot rounds out the fruit profile with its softness, and Cabernet Franc harmonizes with the spiced richness of Shiraz. Fresh and infused with a hint of fine mint, this exquisite red wine culminates in a seamless, lingering finish enriched with cassis and blackberry nuances, well-integrated oak, and robust tannins.
Primary and malolactic fermentation occur in stainless steel tanks before aging in 100% French oak barrels for 14-16 months, with 30% new oak. A combination of 300L barrels for Bordeaux varieties and 500L barrels for the Shiraz is utilized.
