The Boschkloof Syrah reveals a captivating bouquet characterized by complex notes of oriental spices, delicate violets, and a whisper of white pepper. Enveloping aromas of red fruits entice the senses, culminating in a balanced structure with spicy undertones and a lingering finish. This wine exemplifies a classic style, showcasing unmistakable Rhône character and finesse.
The grapes are sourced from Boschkloof’s vineyards, comprising the Syrah clones SH 99 and SH 21, meticulously hand-harvested. The yield was a modest 6 tons per hectare. Natural fermentation without added yeast was employed. Post-alcoholic fermentation, the grapes underwent 11 days of skin contact, with malolactic fermentation taking place in barrels. Careful maturation occurred over 14 months in 10% new French 400-liter barrels, with only minimal filtration prior to bottling.
