The Bouchard Finlayson Missionvale Chardonnay captivates with its saline-mineral backbone and an impressively long, lingering finish. Aromas of fresh hay, ripe melon, and quince are elegantly framed by subtle hints of vanilla. On the palate, this wine is vibrant and expansive, revealing a distinct note of wet stone that gradually unfolds into hazelnut and citrus blossom sensations. The terroir of the Hemel-en-Aarde valley showcases its prowess as one of the Cape's finest Chardonnay regions.
The grapes for this Chardonnay were fermented in classic Burgundy style within terracotta amphorae, enjoying extended time on the lees. The wine matured for eight months in French oak barrels, with 25% being new. Additionally, 12% of the final blend underwent fermentation and aging in terracotta amphorae. Bottled in May 2025 after light filtration.
