The De Grendel Shiraz 2022 displays a deep ruby color with violet highlights, revealing enticing floral notes of violet on the nose. Accents of fine coriander spice, blackcurrant, and festive fruitcake interlace with subtle herbal nuances. On the palate, the wine is captivating, beginning with luscious black plum flavors, enveloped by rich, silky tannins that evolve into a finish highlighted by floral notes and hints of mulberry. This concentrated wine, marked by extraordinary elegance, masterfully balances sweet black fruit with a beautifully structured tannic backbone and delicate spices.
The grapes for this exceptional Shiraz were hand-harvested at optimal ripeness and fermented in open steel tanks upon arrival at the winery. After primary and malolactic fermentation in tank, the wine matured for 13 months in a combination of 10% new American and 10% new French oak, with 80% in second and third-fill barrels.
