The De Krans Touriga Nacional 2023 captivates with a deep plum hue, unveiling rich and intense aromas of dark berries intertwined with fragrant violets and cacao. Hints of sweet dark cherries, plums, white pepper, and roasted oak add complexity. On the palate, it is exceptionally full-bodied, showcasing a well-balanced, intricate flavor profile of black currants, dried plums, a touch of cherry cigar, violets, and dark chocolate in the finish. Its soft tannin structure combined with its concentrated fruit suggests remarkable aging potential and exquisite enjoyment.
The grapes were destemmed and crushed immediately, cooling them in open fermenters. Selected yeasts were introduced to initiate fermentation, followed by pressing the skins. After the alcoholic fermentation, malolactic fermentation occurred. The wine then matured for 12 months in fourth and fifth fill French oak barrels.
