Eikendal Classique is the pinnacle wine from Eikendal Vineyards, proudly representing the long-standing tradition of the Stellenbosch estate. This masterful blend primarily features Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, creating a remarkable complexity. The nose is enveloped by intensely aromatic notes of blue and black fruits, intermingled with delicate spices and a distinct earthy, mineral character. On the palate, it reveals a robust, yet silky tannin structure, coupled with striking freshness.
Classique embodies the essence of Eikendal—a classic yet subtle red wine with endurance and staying power. Each grape variety was harvested and vinified separately. The grapes underwent a prolonged and gentle cold soak prior to fermentation, conducted in small stainless steel tanks. Post-fermentation, the varieties matured individually in French 300-liter oak barrels for 12 months, before being carefully blended and aged in French barriques (20% new wood) for an additional six months. After bottling, the wine continued to age for another 18 months before release.
