The Ernie Els Signature 2022 reveals a deep ruby hue, inviting you into a world of lush, mature fruit elegantly intertwined with cinnamon and exotic spice notes. A rich tapestry of blackcurrants and cherries is complemented by whispers of cocoa powder, vanilla, and plums—evoking a luxurious holiday cake. Secondary aromas of thyme and tobacco emerge, enhanced by delicate Fynbos elements. The well-rounded tannins enhance the wine's opulence, making it a full-bodied, classic, velvety, and dry experience that is nothing short of powerful.

Well-developed fruit tannins contribute to a long, delicious finish, creating a splendid harmony on the palate. Sourced exclusively from Ernie Els Wines, the grapes thrive on the warm northern slopes of the Helderberg region within the Stellenbosch appellation.

Treatment in the cellar

Harvested in the early hours, the grapes were meticulously sorted and destemmed. Fermentation occurred in open steel fermenters. The wine matured for 18 months in French oak barrels (50% new), with a small portion (15%) aged in terracotta amphorae.

Cabernet Sauvignon 60%, Merlot 25%, Cabernet Franc 5%, Malbec 5%, and Petit Verdot 5%.
