Glenelly Lady May is the flagship wine of Glenelly, embodying the essence of Stellenbosch, South Africa's prestigious wine region. This 2020 Bordeaux blend pays tribute to Lady May, the legendary owner, featuring a special label to commemorate her 100th birthday. Aromas of rich dark berries intertwine with hints of mocha and cedar, creating a captivating bouquet. On the palate, it reveals sweet fruit notes, velvety tannins, and a long, refined finish, making it a true testament to both Lady May and this exceptional tribute wine.
Das Traubengut wurde zunächst leicht angequetscht und anschließend in Tanks aus Edelstahl gefüllt, wo die Fermentierung durch ausschließlich natürliche Hefen ihren Lauf nahm. Nach Abschluss der alkoholischen Gärung verbrachte der Wein zwei bis drei Wochen auf der Haut und wurde anschließend sanft abgepresst. Die malolaktische Fermentierung fand in französischen Barriques statt und die Weine reiften zunächst 12 Monate lang als Einzelkomponenten in 30-40% erstbefüllten 300L-Fässern. Nach dem Verschnitt wurde er dann für weitere 12 Monate in 75%ige erstbefüllte Fässer umgefüllt.
Der endgültige Verschnitt ist 59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc und 5% Petit Verdot.
