The Kanonkop Kadette Cape Blend 2023 captivates with its vibrant ruby red hue and an exuberant bouquet that enchants the senses. This wine delights with nuances of fine raspberry that linger enticingly. Its structure is elegantly balanced, showcasing a fresh acidity complemented by a dry, remarkably engaging finish. The tannins are firm yet irresistibly silky, affirming the wine’s character. A Cape Blend must feature Pinotage prominently, and this blend achieves the perfect harmony of 33% Pinotage, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot.

Named after the 'Kopje' (little hill) where a cannon was fired in the 17th century to alert nearby farmers of incoming ships, Kanonkop symbolizes a rich legacy of trade, where farmers filled their carts with fruit, vegetables, and especially wine for sailors.

Treatment in the cellar

The grapes for Kanonkop Kadette are sourced from vines aged between five and thirty years. After hand-picking and meticulous selection, the grapes underwent fermentation in open tanks with daily 'Punch Down' for three to five days. The wine matured for 12 months in used French Nevers oak barrels.
