The Keermont Pondokrug Cabernet Franc captivates with its deep violet hue and hints of pink at the rim, releasing a bouquet of classic Fynbos herbs combined with ripe strawberries and red fruit confectionery. On the palate, it presents intense notes of red berries, accented by a touch of effervescence, cloves, and blackcurrants. The tannin structure is firm and grippy, supported by an expressive core of acidity, culminating in a long, profoundly dry finish that showcases the wine's mastery.
Pondok Rug, a mountain ridge, takes its name from a simple shepherd’s hut (Pondok).
The grapes for this premier Cabernet Franc were hand-picked and vinified separately according to vineyard block and ripeness. Fermentation was conducted naturally in open fermenters. After fermentation, the wine aged in French barriques for 20 months and was bottled unfiltered by hand.
