Displaying a deep plum hue, the Keermont Topside Syrah captivates with a remarkable bouquet of dark fruit, accented by delicate rose petals and hints of ripe strawberries and tea leaf. On the palate, it is soft yet juicy, boasting a robust and firm tannic structure. This prestigious Syrah reveals intense nuances of red fruits and sandalwood. The lingering finish showcases a luxurious balance of aromatic fruit, natural acidity, and the wine's structured backbone.
The Topside Syrah vineyards are situated on the steep, west-facing slopes of the Stellenbosch Mountain range (350m above sea level). The altitude and soil composition (sandstone and granite) significantly contribute to the wine's spiced character and refined tannin structure.
The handpicked grapes for this masterful Syrah are sourced exclusively from Keermont's own vineyards, vinified separately according to block and ripeness. Fermentation occurred naturally, traditionally, and with great care in open fermenters. Post-fermentation, the wine aged for 20 months in French Barriques (500L) and was bottled by hand, unfiltered.
