The Kershaw GPS Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge Pinot Noir captivates with its crystalline clarity, revealing a bouquet of enticing spicy-floral aromas that highlight its remarkable purity, focus, and freshness. On the palate, this wine is juicy and vibrant, featuring silky tannins intertwined with flavors of black cherries, pomegranate, rose petals, and raspberries. It culminates in a perfect, satisfying, and lingering finish, making it a truly distinguished expression of its terroir.
Treatment in the cellar
The grapes were hand-picked, sorted, and destemmed. The destemmed grapes were placed on a vibrating table to remove inferior berries before being fermented whole in small 500 kg open tanks. A 3-day maceration preceded the spontaneous fermentation. A gentle délestage process was implemented, where the entire juice flowed out of the tank daily to remove unwanted yeasts. The grapes remained on the skins for 10-12 days before being carefully basket-pressed. Malolactic fermentation occurred, and the wine aged for 10-11 months in French oak barrels before bottling and release.
