The Kleine Zalze Family Reserve Chenin Blanc is an exquisite expression of Stellenbosch, brimming with enticing aromas of refined citrus, fragrant quince, and ripe pineapple. On the palate, it reveals delightful nuances of pear and peach, complemented by an elegant fruit expression and well-integrated oak notes. Its incredibly creamy mouthfeel, along with a freshly mineral finish, offers a genuine tasting experience. The grapes for this highly acclaimed wine are sourced from three distinct vineyards in Stellenbosch, with vines over 40 years old, greatly contributing to the wine's splendid complexity. A masterful creation indeed!
The grapes for this premium Chenin Blanc were hand-harvested at varied ripeness levels and gently pressed. The juice spent 12-18 hours on the skins before being placed in stainless steel tanks with select yeasts. Subsequently, the juice was transferred to 400 L French oak barrels, where the fermentation was completed. Only previously used barrels were employed to ensure that the delicate Chenin fruit was not overwhelmed. The wine then aged for an additional eight months in barrel and clay amphora before the different Chenin barrels were blended. No fining or filtration was performed prior to bottling.
