Information about "Leeuwenkuil Reserve Red 2023"

The Leeuwenkuil Reserve Red unveils a captivating bouquet as it is poured, dominated by elegant notes of caramelized plums, beautifully balanced with layers of red fruit. On the palate, it reveals a rich tapestry of cherry, cranberry, and plum flavors, dancing together effortlessly and culminating in a subtly peppery, savory finish. This Reserve Red is an incredibly vibrant wine that delights with remarkable depth and an enticing complexity. One glass is simply not enough!

Treatment in the cellar The hand-picked grapes were fermented spontaneously on the skins. In this context, spontaneous means that no commercial yeasts were added to the grapes for fermentation – only the yeasts present on the fruit and in the environment initiated the fermentation process. The cap of pomace was regularly submerged during the fermentation process to extract maximum colour, aromas and flavour nuances into the wine. After 20 days on the skins, once alcoholic fermentation was complete, the wine was transferred to French oak barrels with a capacity of 5,000 litres per barrel, where malolactic fermentation was completed and the wine was allowed to mature for 12 months before the various components were blended and bottled.
