The Meerlust Chardonnay 2023 captivates with its luminous platinum hue, infused with vibrant green undertones. The complex bouquet reveals enticing notes of pear, apricot, and peach, beautifully layered with floral overtones which evolve into roasted almond and citrus aromas. On the palate, it offers a medium body complemented by zesty acidity, pristine citrus, and a stony minerality. This generous Stellenbosch Chardonnay, featuring a rich stone fruit core, culminates in a refreshing and prolonged finish.
Die Trauben wurden per Hand gelesen. 50% des Weins wurde in neuen französischen Allier-eiche Barriques vergoren, der Rest in gebrauchten 300 Liter Holzfässern. 50% des Weins wurde spontan mit Hefen auzs dem Keller vergoren, beim Rest kam kommerzielle Hefe zum Einsatz. Nach der Gärung wurde der Wein von den schweren, zu Boden gesunkenen, Hefen getrennt; malolaktische Gärung erfolgte und der Wein reifte im Holz.
