Named after winemaker Miles Mossop's son, the Miles Mossop Max is a stunning wine that pours a deep garnet with a radiant plum rim. The nose is captivating, showcasing luscious blackberries, dried herbs, fragrant cedar, and hints of tobacco. On the palate, Max is rich, opulent, and complex, revealing intense flavors of red currants and blueberries. It culminates in a texturally balanced mid-palate, complemented by layers of fine vanilla and dried herbs, leading to a long, dry, and satisfyingly textured finish.
The grapes, primarily from Stellenbosch, were handpicked and spontaneously fermented for up to 14 days in open barrels. Following malolactic fermentation, the wine matured for 22 months in small 225-liter French oak barrels, 37% of which were new.
