Poured into the glass, the Pilgrim Chenin Blanc 2023 reveals a captivating golden hue with hints of green. Its aromatic profile is both vibrant and expressive, featuring ripe stone fruits, white pear, and yellow peach entwined with the distinctive mineral character of Swartland. Subtle notes of fynbos, almonds, and citrus add complexity. On the palate, it is broad and well-structured, preserving remarkable freshness and showcasing great aging potential. This is a rich and elegant wine, culminating in a long and delightful finish. Crafted from 35-plus-year-old vines in clay and sandstone soils of the Voor Paardeberg area, this Chenin Blanc is a true reflection of its origin.
Die Trauben wurden in drei separaten Partien vinifiziert und in französischen Eichenholzfässern ( 225L, 300L, 500L ) vergoren und gereift. Die Reifung dauerte neun Monate nachedem der Wein abgefüllt wurde und dann weitere neun Monate in der Flasche, vor der Freigabe, gelagert wurde. Diese längere Lagerungen sorgen für eine vollendete Geschmacksentwicklung.
