Harvested at an optimal moment, this wine undergoes a 100% whole bunch fermentation and matures in concrete eggs, preserving the vibrant fruit and crisp tannins intrinsic to this special Syrah. With a modest alcohol content of 12.5%, it reveals a beautiful structure characterized by savory notes of olive tapenade and dark blackberries. The expressive nose intertwines with earthy undertones and a hint of star anise. As winemaker Donovan Rall reflects, it took 17 years to achieve the Syrah profile he desired!
The grapes for this highly acclaimed Swartland Syrah are harvested early, pressed whole bunch, and matured 100% in concrete eggs, ensuring the preservation of its fruit and the crisp tannin structure from the distinctive slate soils.
