The Remhoogte First Light Chenin Blanc reveals a delicate straw-yellow hue and enchants the nose with a vibrant bouquet of passionfruit and zesty lemon, intertwined with refreshing notes of yellow apple. A flinty mineral backbone imparts both depth and complexity. On the palate, it greets the senses with a particularly lively profile bursting with bright citrus and juicy stone fruit characters. The south-facing slopes bask in the bright, clear first light of day, ideal for the optimal ripening of the grapes. Situated on weathered granite and Table Mountain sandstone soils, the vines for First Light range from 30 to 50 years old, yielding about five tons per hectare. The harvested grapes were pressed immediately, without skin contact, and fermented naturally in stainless steel tanks. After fermentation, the wine was racked off coarse lees, returned to fine lees, and allowed to rest for four months, all aimed at preserving maximum freshness.
