The Sadie Family Die Ouwingerdreeks Skurfberg unveils a vibrant bouquet of fresh Granny Smith apple and hints of mature tropical fruits. This vintage exhibits an engaging viscosity that is tempered by a lively and prolonged acidity on the finish. It is a more linear expression of the vineyard, and with some bottle age, the wine will further harmonize its complex profile.

The name "Ou Wingerdreeks" translates to 'old vines,' referring to a series of wines crafted from ancient vines rooted in the Cape. In this case, the grapes originate from the mountainous regions of Citrusdal and the West Coast.

Treatment in the cellar

The grapes are hand-picked into 20 kg crates and then taken to a cooling room to lower the temperature. After cooling, the berries from three distinct Chenin Blanc parcels are fermented separately and aged in used barrels for 12 months on fine lees before blending. Following an additional six months of joint aging, the wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered.
