While in the past apple growing was the traditional activity in the Elgin, today not only apples are produced but also award-winning wines of unparalleled elegance and individuality. The combination of different microclimates in close proximity to the Atlantic Ocean provides ideal conditions for wine growing. Cool winters with high rainfall rates on complex soil conditions in the enormous altitude of the Elgin area ensure a longer and later ripening phase of the grapes, which in turn transfers a low pH value, a pleasantly natural acidity and a perfect balance of ripe taste nuances into the wine.
