With a deep crimson hue in the glass, the Sijnn Free Reign 3rd Edition captivates with a complex yet inviting bouquet. Layers of herbal and earthy nuances intermingle with an explosion of red fruit, showcasing the wine's intriguing depth. Composed of 65% Syrah and 35% Touriga Nacional from two premium, low-yield vineyards, this vintage marries umami with hints of lavender infusion. The nose and palate engage in a delightful duet, oscillating between seductive aromas and charming flavors. A velvety texture envelops the palate, exuding a silky softness while delightfully bursting with the vibrancy of red berries.
A specific layering process was applied in the production of this wine: whole Syrah berries are placed individually, destemmed and gently laid at the bottom of the fermentation container. The second layer consists of whole Syrah grapes, followed by the final layer of gently destemmed and crushed Touriga Nacional. This layered vessel was left to ferment, occasionally undergoing a 'punch down' to moisten the cap. After fermentation, the grapes remained on the skins for six weeks to fully integrate and develop this ethereal flavor profile.
Only 560 bottles were hand-filled, waxed, and labeled.
