The Stellenrust Artisons The Mothership Chenin Blanc reveals an inviting bouquet of honey, fresh and dried pears, white peaches, and subtle melon notes. This energetic wine is sourced exclusively from a 1964 Bottelary (Stellenbosch) vineyard, marking it as a noteworthy expression of Chenin Blanc. The Mothership is aptly named, representing the original 1964 'mother' parcel of Chenin Blanc.
This award-winning Chenin Blanc from old bush vines is harvested at optimal ripeness, undergoing 6 to 12 hours of skin contact. It ferments slowly with wild yeasts in 2000-liter barrels and concrete eggs. After fermentation, it is transferred to concrete eggs for up to 12 months of aging on the lees.
