The Survivor Cellar Master Cabernet Franc Merlot 2022 showcases the purity of the Tradouw terroir through a complex blend that captivates the senses. Enticing aromas of red berries are elevated by a robust intensity of cherries, tobacco leaf, and red pepper. The oak is seamlessly integrated, complementing the delicate palate and highlighting its refreshingly juicy character. The grapes are cultivated on clay-limestone soils interspersed with decomposed Bokkeveld shale, producing wines renowned for their depth, elegance, minerality, and freshness. These unique terroirs contribute to wines with a lower pH, enhancing their longevity.

Treatment in the cellar

The Cabernet Franc and Merlot underwent a prolonged cold maceration for four days, followed by individual fermentation with Bordeaux-grown yeasts until all sugars were fermented. The wines were then macerated on the skins for 10 days before pressing, completing malolactic fermentation in 300-liter barrels. They aged for 22 months in 60% new, 20% second-fill, and 20% third-fill barrels before bottling.
