The Winery of Good Hope Mountainside Syrah is a remarkably fresh Stellenbosch Syrah, characterized by its elegant nuances of fynbos and lavender, complemented by a compelling blend of ripe red fruits such as plums and spices. Its grippy yet smooth texture and restrained aroma profile promise a delectable tasting experience. Unlike many often sweet and overtly fruity Shiraz wines, the Mountainside Shiraz presents a more subtle expression.
The grapes for this Syrah were hand-harvested, crushed, destemmed, and subjected to a multi-day cold maceration phase in large stainless steel tanks. This was followed by a cool, spontaneous fermentation in steel. Subsequently, 50% of the wine matured for 14 months in third, fourth, and fifth fill French oak barrels. Finally, the steel-aged and oak-aged wines were blended and bottled.
