Poured into the glass, the Thelema Merlot Reserve presents a deep, almost inky red hue, releasing an intense bouquet of raspberries, blackcurrants, cherries, strawberries, and baking spices. On the palate, it showcases a robust structure with complex notes of cedar, sandalwood, and lush fruit density. Its strong yet harmonious tannins will further develop with time, complemented by a well-balanced acidity that promises excellent aging potential.
As one of the finest Merlots from the Cape, this wine is a limited edition embodiment of elegance and balance, offering a refined yet approachable expression of terroir.
The grapes for the Thelema Merlot Reserve were destemmed, hand-sorted, crushed, and pumped into stainless steel tanks, where they underwent a two-day cold soak and were gently punched down twice daily for three more days. Malolactic fermentation took place in wooden barrels, followed by 18 months of aging in 100% new French oak.
