The Thelema Sutherland Emily Petit Verdot unfolds an intense bouquet of white pepper, fragrant violets, and dark chocolate. The palate is caressed by enticing notes of roasted tobacco leaves and cigar box, creating a serious wine that deserves a prominent place in any cellar. This wine is crafted from the finest vineyard parcels in the cool climate region of Elgin, part of Thelema Mountain Vineyards, founded by Gyles Webb. The Sutherland Reserve Collection pays tribute to his beloved granddaughters, and this expression, named after Emily Edna Hilton, embodies strength, untamed spirit, and vivacity.
The grapes were destemmed, meticulously hand-sorted berry by berry, crushed, and then placed in stainless steel tanks. They underwent daily pump-overs for five days, followed by two days of rest before pressing. After pressing, the wine was transferred to French oak barrels, where it underwent malolactic fermentation and matured for 18 months prior to bottling.
