Thelema The Abbey is an enchanting red blend composed of 90% Shiraz and 10% Grenache Noir, showcasing the essence of South Africa's renowned terroir. The nose opens with rich aromas of dark plums and black cherries, accompanied by subtle hints of dried herbs that echo beautifully on the palate. Notes of roasted coffee and delicate spices add complexity, while a refined acidity balances the sumptuous fruit, culminating in a truly harmonious experience. This wine pays tribute to the spirit of an exquisite abbey, Thélème, from a tale by François Rabelais, epitomizing freedom and indulgence.
The grapes are handpicked, followed by two days of skin contact post-fermentation. After pressing, the wine matures in second and third-fill oak barrels, undergoing malolactic fermentation, with a total aging period of 18 months before bottling.
