Vergelegen, which translates to 'far away', is a celebrated estate that produces its Vergelegen Shiraz Reserve 2020 only in exceptional years, adding to its allure. This distinguished South African wine boasts a deep ruby color, signaling its rich character. On the nose, it captivates with notes of mulberry, licorice, and sweet spices, while a playful hint of pepper and violets enhances the palate. Subtle undertones of cinnamon and spices, along with soft florals and plum accents, create a beautifully balanced finish, marked by juiciness and lingering hints of mulberry and ground pepper.
All grapes were handpicked from Vergelegen's Rooiland vineyards, situated on northern to northwestern slopes. The fruit was fermentation in stainless steel tanks and aged for 16 months in 25% new French oak barrels.
