The Waterkloof Circumstance Merlot captivates with its inviting bouquet of red berries and plums, complemented by earthy notes. Elegantly structured, this wine caresses the palate with juicy fruit flavors, while the vibrant nose reveals nuances of plums, sour cherries, tomato leaves, and an underlying earthiness. Its exceptional tannin structure provides impressive longevity, and the pronounced acidity enhances the flavor profile, allowing these aromas to linger beautifully on the palate.
The last comparable vintage was the outstanding 1997, as no Circumstance Merlot was produced in 2020.
Das handgelesene Traubengut wurde bei Ankunft in der Kellerei komplett entrappt, handsortiert und in offene Holze-Fermenter gefüllt, wo es spontan durch wild vorkommende Hefe fermentierte. Der Wein verbrachte 30 Tage lang auf der Haut, woraufhin die malolaktische Gärung im Fass stattfand. Anschließend reifte der Wein 18 Monate lang in 15% neuen sowie 85% zweit- und drittbefüllten französischen Barriques. Der Wein wurde vor Abfüllung auf die Flasche weder verfeinert noch gefiltert.
