In a mesmerizing deep crimson hue, the Zandvliet Hill of Enon Small Berry Shiraz unveils a complex bouquet of blueberries, licorice, and dark chocolate. These delightful aromas seamlessly extend to a rich palate, featuring subtle oak nuances complemented by hints of plum, cigar box, and confectionary chocolate, culminating in a velvety finish.
The grapes for this Shiraz hail from a unique terroir that produces remarkably small berries, achieving full ripeness ten days earlier than those from neighboring vineyards. These concentrated grapes were hand-harvested to craft this exceptional Shiraz. Mention Zandvliet, and the resonance of 'Shiraz' echoes, as it stands among the first wineries in the country to bottle this noble variety, located along the picturesque Robertson Valley Wine Route.
The exceptional Shiraz grapes underwent crushing and a three-day cold soak at a controlled 10°C before fermentation commenced at 25-30°C. The malolactic fermentation occurred at 18°C, followed by 18-24 months of maturation in a mix of second-fill French and American oak barrels.
